Cypress Beings

Cypress knee communities intrigue me. Sometimes they surface in an extended sweep from a mature cypress tree. Botanists surmise they are efforts by the tree to aerate its root system. I like to think it is because the cypress is a hospitable host who likes to surround themself with lots of friends. Some of the roots (knees) have distinct faces, such as this being looking out over the small lake at Longwood Gardens, PA.

More Information

This is a cozy little alcove at Longwood Gardens, just off the main path and fronting one of the several lakes on the property.

The main figure here looks like a cloaked figure from one of the desert communities found in the Star Wars series!

I did a short reel of this tree –
