Catalpa Serpent Eye

A serpent is curled up into a catalpa tree portal. He lives at Swarthmore College, in a tree filled with images of wisdom, protection and youthful exuberance. Serpents represent the unfurling of wisdom.

More Information

This catalpa tree lives at Swarthmore College – a top-ranked institution known for its ultra-liberal ideas. The campus is also the Scott Arboretum and the honoring and valuing of nature takes equal precedence with intellectual explorations. The tree lives at the entrance to one of the living areas. A very large curled serpent rests in one of its large branches.
