Red Oak in Fall

There are many varieties of oak; these are red oak, so called because of the brilliant red their leaves turn in autumn.

Oak people are enthusiastic, self-motivated, responsible and do not give up easily. They stay calm in crises, are cheerful and optimistic even in the face of opposition, and very grounded.

Oaks come in many variations but all are symbols of strength, wisdom, endurance and stability.

Illinois hosts many varieties of oak, with the white oak being the state tree.

Here is a red oak in my own Illinois side yard, in all its fall glory.
